Personal & Professional Development

The Nonprofit Professionals of Color Collective, which was piloted in 2019, aims to provide a space for people of color where they can work collaboratively to encourage and enrich each others’ lives, personally and professionally.

In addition to the opportunities for professional or personal development from formal sessions (workshops, panels, etc.), members are able to apply for 1:1 executive coaching with one of two Collective executive coaches. One coach is focused on traditional coaching, while the other provides a holistic wellness approach which incorporates goals for work/life balance. Additionally, the Collective has offered group therapy with a licensed clinical social worker where small cohorts met weekly as a group and also received some individual 1:1 therapy sessions.

“I wanted to reach out to you both to simply share how incredibly helpful my 2 hours of coaching was with Coach Diane. Since I can remember entering the nonprofit sector, I have noticed leaders receiving ‘executive coaching’ or ‘leadership coaching’ and I knew it was something that organizations were paying for for their leaders. I always wondered when someone would approach me to say ‘we want to invest in you and provide you with x’. Even though that specific scenario did not come to fruition, I was still blessed with the opportunity to have coaching because of the space YOU have created (with support from the Geraldine Dodge Foundation)... I literally feel like I am in a space to grow because of her coaching.”
