It all begins with an idea.

The Nonprofit Professionals of Color Collective started as an idea to support our community in their pursuit of the C-Suite. The pilot was birthed out of that desire due to the findings in the Race to Lead report.

According to the key findings of the 2019 Race to Lead “Nonprofit Executives and the Racial Leadership Gap” study, in addition to challenges of financial sustainability and funding access, executives of color in the nonprofit sector “report higher rates of common challenges and frustrations than white EDs/CEOs” and “report more challenges in their relationships with boards of directors when the boards are predominantly white.” Focusing on POC leadership in the C-suite and speaking with people who have managed these challenges themselves provides members with inspiration for their own leadership journeys.

This continues to be an important aspect of our programming.
